3D glasses together with 3D images, or Anaglyphs

3D Glasses used In DVD & Blu-Ray home release of theatrical 3D films
Disney studios is releasing its first Blu-ray 3D disk August 2008, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. Disney Channel aired it originally in July of 2008, for viewing with red-cyan paper 3D glasses.
In the blu-ray release, similar 3D glasses will more than likely be used. Thanks to Disney’s research, and the greater clarity of blue-ray, there have been great improvements in red-cyan anaglyph 3D glasses, particularly as they relate to the close overlay of 3D images, like Disney uses in their animation products. It's common for most films by Disney to show much less malregistration in comparision to older 3D techniques.

What makes 3D Anaglyph Glasses function?

Viewing anaglyphs through appropriately colored 3D glasses results in each eye seeing a slightly different picture. In a red-blue anaglyph 3D Glasses, for instance, the eye covered by the red filter sees the red parts of the image as "white", and the blue parts as "black" The brain will have its own version of what it looks like.; the eye that is covered by the blue filter will perceive exactly the opposite effect. Pure black or white areas could be perceived the same by every eye The brain blends together the image it receives from each eye, and interprets the differences as being the result of different distances. This creates a normal stereograph image without requiring the viewer to cross his or her eyes.
