Sergio Ramos is set to be offered a 10 year contract to keep him at Real Madrid for the rest of his career. Real hope to keep the player for the rest of his career. The 22 year old defender signed from Sevilla has become a key member of the Spanish Champions team. The player was also part of the Triumph Euro 2008 Spanish squad. The player is a pin-up in Spain and much loved by the Madrid fans. "We will offer him a nine or ten year deal so that the boy can have a clear idea that his professional career will finish here," Sporting Director Predrag Mijatovic stated. Real have lots of other players such as Arjen Robben, Rafael Van der Vaart, Pepe, Ezequiel Garay (who will sign next summer), Gonzalo Higuain, Fernando Gago, Marcelo, Javi Garcia, Miguel Torres, Ruben De la Red, Iker Casillas who Madrid want to build their future on. Real Madrid have signed up veterans Raul, Guti and Ruud Van Nistelrooy on similar deals. The initiative is designed to help Real move forward for the future. It looks like Real Madrid have come a long way since the days of the Galacticos and the underperforming teams of the past. This Real Madrid squad is full of vibrant young players. The players seem like they have a will to win that was missing in the days of Beckham, Ronaldo and Co. They also have a winning mentality which stems from winning leagues and also from the players who helped win Spain their first international trophy in forty years. However good it looks on the pitch there is apparently a rift between President Ramon Calderon and Bernd Schuster over the sale of Robinho to Manchester City for 32 million.
