3D Glasses used In DVD & Blu-Ray home release of theatrical 3D films
Disney studios is releasing its first Blu-ray 3D disk August 2008, Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert. In July 2008, this was shown on the Disney Channel with red-cyan paper 3D glasses.
In all probability it will use similar 3D glasses in the blu-ray release. The greater clarity of blu-ray, and the learning curve at Disney, has greatly improved red-cyan anaglyph 3D Glasses, especially in relation to close overlay of the 3D images, such as they have followed in their animation projects. In comparison with the old-fashioned polarized or anaglyph technique, most Disney theatrical 3D images display much less mal-registration.

How do 3D Anaglyph Glasses Work?

Viewing anaglyphs through appropriately colored 3D glasses results in each eye seeing a slightly different picture. An example is the red-blue anaglyph 3D glasses, the red filtered lens makes the red parts of the image appear as "white", while the blue parts are seen as "black". (with the brain providing some adaption for color); the eye that is covered by the blue filter will perceive exactly the opposite effect. Each eye perceives true black or true white areas the same way. The brain blends together the image it receives from each eye, and interprets the differences as being the result of different distances. The result? An ordinary stereograph image, but one that doesn't make you go cross-eyed!
